AVAST - Unprotected, will not turn on

I recently had to do a restore on my computer because an update mucked some thing up. I restore to a previous time and now AVAST won’t turn on. Any ideas? I don’t want to uninstall and reinstall, but will if only solution.

Do a repair of avast!
add/remove > select avast! then scroll down and select repair.
REBOOT
That should fix your problem.
Report back.

I had the same problem on my desktop yesterday and that didn't work, it said something was "Unreachable" so I uninstalled and reinstalled, Now I have another problem , I am a current paid user of IS6, after i reinstalled the program , I then inserted the lic file, it says "Internet security" across the top but is missing the extra protection, "Sandbox" and "Safezone" at least, manual update says its current, any Ideas ? Thanks

I am going through this problem now also. I have tried to repair and that did not work so I did a new install and it does fine. the only problem is I can’t get an answer from tech support about my new lisence I purchased about three weeks ago. Maybe they will decide to answer one day…not a lot of warm and fuzzy support from them ever even though the product is good.

Same thing happened to me - I had to restore my computer, and now Avast won’t run. I tried going to add/remove to repair it, but it won’t let me do anything to the program because it “cannot read the program data from [filepath]”. I tried uninstalling it so I could reinstall, but it won’t let me do that either. Short of manually deleting all the avast files from my program files, I’m not sure what to do. To cover my bases, I have already rebooted a few times, tried downloading and installing a new version in hopes that it would uninstall the old one (no luck), and tried to re-start the program from within the user interface. Suggestions?

Same problem - 2 different computers. I have spent HOURS
on this today!

What is the solution?

Okay, I’ll start a new topic even though it’s the same problem.
