Avast Update instances

Hello,

today it was a little bit misterious. Avast Update and ivast had run 7 times together so i had the updates and Database updates 7 times installed doubble. A window appears tht i have to restart my computer so i had restartet it i have no problems but i want to ask it is something can be broken if the updates are being installed (the same) more than one times.

When an update process hangs, another is initiated and then you can have multiply instances of avast.setup running. It shouldn’t happen. Are you using any firewall? Are you using the avast beta version?

Helo no i am using the stable release not any beta. I have Mc Afee Firewall Plus so i don’t know if there are any incompatibilities with it i think not because Avast don’t have a firewall integrated.

If you’re not using McAfee antivirus, no problems.
Does the problem continue to happen or just disappeared?

Now works fine. I have no Problems anymore but i can see a problem when i am starting my computer that i vast is searching for updates and there are some problems with the nc afee firewall because my computer is freezing i don’t know what happens. Anything is couseing high cpu usage or something is blocking but i only have active Avast antivirus home and mc afee personal firewall 2006 plu with all availible updates.

I suggest you delay the update of avast into a permanent internet connection (DSL) you can change the value AlwaysConnectedWaitSeconds into avast4.ini file. Details on ‘Settings’ in my signature.

You’ll have to add AlwaysConnectedWaitSeconds value into the [InetWD] section of avast4.ini file.
You could set the number of seconds to wait before attempting to update. The default is 30 but it may not be enough in some DSL systems. In this case, you can try increasing this e.g. to 60 (1 minute). That should be enough.

Thank u for the answer. The Problem is now solved. I had add the line to the avast4.ini. Thanx

Wow… that was good!
If the problem comes back, you can increase the delay a little 8)
