I’ve been an Avast Free user for many years and it is the first time that i face a problem for which i’m forced to call for help, and i hope some people may have the answer i do not have. So i will start with my problem.
Today, after some time on the computer, i got a message from Avast to restart my computer. So, i closed the few things that were opened, and clicked to restart my computer.
So, it restarted normally, but after a few minutes, with no message from Avast, i checked on my User Interface, and on the icons at the bottom right, i saw that Avast had a the white cross on red fond, and it said “You are not protected” (in french, “Vous n’êtes pas protégé”). Plus when i clicked on to open the UI, it said “Loading, this shouldn’t take long” with Exit being the only option offered.
FIRST TRY, to repair Avast, i followed the “manual” => https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/Repair-Antivirus
After doing it, i waited a few minutes, and restarted my computer again^^. After this and some few minutes wainting, Avast still bugged.
SECOND TRY, still following the “manual”, instead of clicking on “Repair”, i clicked on “Update”. IT didn’t worked.
THIRD TRY, maybe not the wisest, i downloaded the Avast installation program, and launched it, because i believed that, like some programs, Avast installation program would “uninstall/repair” the original one that bugged. So…the installation programm launched, and i followed all the few steps to install avast antivirus free. The program worked until the installation was “completed” then…nothing, it completed, but i got no message at all, nothing “changed”. So, once again, i restarted my computer after wainting many minutes (10-15 minutes). And, well, Avast still say “You are not protected”, and the UI still won’t launch.
At this point, i’m pretty much clueless, and i may try as a FORTY TRY, to unistall avast via the windows configation panel, in order to re-install Avast after, but i’m hesistating about it.
I thing i would appreciate some help, if someone have information that may help. =)
By the way, thanks you in advance for all the help you could provide. =)
