Avast update to 6.0.1352

I have just tried to update to 6.0.1352;
first problem: on THREE seperate computers the update check says I already have the current program version 6.0.1289;

MajorGeeks says 6.0.1352 is available to download.
Update downloaded.

Installed over top of 6.0.1289 on one computer, asked to reboot.
On restart I get a window saying my subscription has EXPIRED even though it is valid until 4/12/2012!

I cancel the warning message, go to the subscription page and insert my valid licence file.
I then get a message saying Avast has been updated, please restart.

On restart in the update screen it says my version is 6.0.1289

Update 6.0.1352 is NOT WORKING!!! >:(

Update 6.0.1352 is NOT WORKING!!!!!!
It is a Beta version...and not a official release

http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=88272.0

If it is on MajorGeeks, it should be clearly stated that it’s a beta and not a final release. If it doesn’t say that it’s their fault. Trying to update to it from the gui of 6.0.1289 will not work since 6.0.1352 is a beta and offered through a different channel than official releases.

Evidently you haven’t read the MajorGeeks announcement, as it clearly says it is a beta version, just as the original announcement in Avast forum says it.

If there is something unclear in this topic, is if the OP already knew that beta releases are not available using the main GUI of a stable Avast’s version. Other than that, the developers should take this topic as a report of “something” failing in the current beta 6.0.1352; at least potentially.

Well, 6.0.1289 is the latest stable build.
The link for the Beta on MG is here: http://majorgeeks.com/Avast_Free_Edition_BETA_d6856.html

As I said before in my previous post, MajorGeeks announcement was and is correct. So whatever you mean with “happens a lot”, it is not coming from MG.

I've given up sending them emails telling them they've got it wrong.

Well, if you sent those emails to MG, then there is nothing they can do anyway, as they posted the announcement correctly.

They had the beta link (as below) on Nov 13th.

Which is the correct post of MG, that went out several hours after the main announcement of the beta here in Avast Forum.

To be clear, I have nothing to do with MG. My point is that users should know where they are getting their information from, and should read carefully and verify the info before acting “automatically”.

@MaxLV,

Could you please reply more “clearly”? I don’t know what exactly you wanted to add or reply or post about.
