This morning I updated my paid subscription to Avast to the Premium Security version (20.2.2401 build 20.2.5130.0 release date April 1, 2020 1:55 AM)
Now I can’t get online at all! The tray icon says the firewall is turned off, but going to the settings I CANNOT turn it on. Yet in another part of the settings it says it’s on! Everything worked fine before the update. Rebooted several times, flushed dns, nothing helps. Win7 says I have an internet connect, but no sites are able to connect now. I am using another computer, also Win7 and the wireless wifi and it connects no problem. WTH did Avast do to my system now? >:(
Have you rebooted more then once. It can take a few “reboots” sometimes with Security updates. Also make sure you Firewall profile is set to PRIVATE.
Repair Avast:
- Avast GUI → Settings → Troubleshooting
- Click on ‘REPAIR APP’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
Yup, rebooted half a dozen, then shut down overnight, no change. Firewall is PRIVATE.
Did all those, took 5-10 minutes to repair. When it finished and returned to main gui it still said firewall was off; clicking ok a message box says “Firewall unavailable!”. Rebooted, no changes. I can only get online if I disable all Avast shields, but that kinda defeats the purpose of having an antivirus.
