- What version of Avast did you install?
- What product of Avast did you install? Free, Pro, AIS?
- What other security software do you currently have or did you have in the past on this machine including:
- Antivirus (AV)
- Firewall (FW)
- Trial versions of AV, FW and other security programs
- Other security software
- If they were in the past, how did you remove them (the vendor’s uninstaller’s tool or another way)?
Since this has happened before, I suspect it may be a conflict with another software.
You can try an Avast Repair:
Vista & Win7 Users:
- Control Panel
- Programs & Features
- Uninstall a Program > Select Avast Antivirus
- Click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair
- Click Next and follow.
- Reboot.
Let us know how this goes and we will await your reply to the other questions. Thank you.
hi again im useing avast free 7.0. and the built in windows firewall uninstall reinstall i know 4 a fact want work cause its deeper then that what this problem is. other programmes ive got on are malware bytes super antispyware and this 1 programme called anvi smart defender but the makers of that claim there is no conflict with avast. before i had that installed i still had the greyed out probs wiv avast so i no its not that causeing the issue. short of reformatting windows i dont no what else to do but i dont want to do that as its a lenghty process and dont want to loose any data u see again thx 4 any help very greatful here.
ive used revo 4 other programmes i mite av tried in the past to uninstall with they include advanded uninstaller and 10 bit security but i try to limit now to avast and malware bytes and smart defender as i heer to much can conflict not sure if this is the issue here though guys.
Well, I would first uninstall Smart Defender based on this review: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2405313,00.asp, and it could be causing problems with your machine. Here is how to unistall it: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-smart-defender-pro.html.
You are better off using Malwarebytes-Antimalware (MBAM) Pro.
- What version (full version) are you using Free 7.0.1456 or something else?
- Did you upgrade or so a clean install?
- Were you using a previous version or product of Avast prior to this on this machine in the past?
Revo is a great program, but you need to use the Avast Uninstaller Tool to uninstall Avast…not Revo, and do it as I instructed in Safe Mode making sure you uninstall ALL previous versions and products while in safe mode one at a time with a reboot in between.
Try uninstalling Smart Defender and reboot. Then let me know what version you are using now. Also, have you scanned for malware recently and did the Avast Repair do anything?
