when booting up on my win7 64-bit machine avast is updating before the explorer.exe is even loaded. it take 3 times as long to boot to desktop because avast is updating before anything is open.
is there a fix that does not require turning updates to manual?
Well, that’s a nice workaround but AFAICT it affects the realtime protection globally (i.e., malware may run before Avast kicks into action). Some less intrusive solution would be preferred.
A clean system would be mandatory…!
I also read about tweaking an .ini file some time ago…
To dig deeper OP would have to search for it in the forum.

Didn’t exactly mean manual tweaking… Just, sort of load ordering optimization done by the avast guru programmers ;D as long as Windows allows that. (Yeah, I know it’s difficult and kinda unpredictible stuff.)
