Hi just want to know is I still need to install malwarebytes for my laptop is i am already running on avast5 free? I want to add malwarebytes to have full protection for my laptop but I am having 2nd thoughts since it might create conflict. please advise. thanks and have a good day to all!

MBAM, free is an on-demand anti-malware and doesn’t conflict with avast. The Pro paid option is used by many forum members and that too doesn’t conflict with avast. The two compliment each other, improving overall protection.

There is no need to add Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (MBAM)to Exclusions in avast! Free version.

For a one time licence fee of $25.00 it is well worth the added protection for your system.
If the op decides to have the pro version of malwarebytes then he will need to add the exclusions, more so with xp as malwarebytes pro and avast free conflicted on my other xp system before i added the exclusions,actually thinking about it a friend’s vista system had some problems before i added the exclusion’s to her system as well, Avast kept detecting the mbamswissarmv.svs.
Then if that is the case exclude the actual file and not a whole slew of MBAM files, I have none excluded in XP Pro, whilst I only use the free version of MBAM so mbamswissarmv.sys shouldn’t even come into the equation.
I tend not to pre-empt problems but respond to them.
The only thing that I have seen on the forums relating to MBAM has been the mbamswissarmv.sys and none of the others, even then many MBAM Pro users don’t appear to have the problem with mbamswissarmv.sys either. So it isn’t consistent, so I wouldn’t jump the gun and exclude them.
DavidR these exclusions are only for the people running the pro version of malwarebytes and i was informed and directed to these exclusions via the advice given on the malwarebytes forums several months ago after having some issues with running the two programs together, better safe than sorry 
I know it is about the pro version and I don’t really care what they say on the malwarebytes forum.
I base my suggestions on what I see on these forums relating to any actual (not perceived) conflict between avast and MBAM and the only thing have seen is the mbamswissarmv.sys detection and this isn’t across the board of all MBAM Pro and avast users.
Ithink the malwarebytes forum offers really good advice, sorry to see that you are stuck in a one forum world :)like i already said better safe than sorry and if it happened on three systems that i know of personally then there would be bound to be more im sure. Edited former post at reply 2, if you have any problems running avast with malwarebytes pro then you may wish to add the exclusions.
I am stuck in the one forum where any conflict between avast and MBAM is reported and the files concerned are indicated and there is only one that I have seen on these forums in a very long time and that relates to the mbamswissarmv.sys file and that hasn’t been universal for all avast/mbam pro users.
There are many applications that suggest a) disabling your AV when installing and b) those that say you should exclude their product files. Sorry but I don’t believe them either as these are the times when you need you defences up.
If there is an issue then and only then should you make a decision on a) if the detection is an FP and b) if so report and exclude.
My Firewall when installing suggests that as I have avast I have it exclude its program folder (and seeks confirmation I have), have I done this, absolutely not, have I experienced any problem, no.

DavidR you are stuck on WinXP ProSP3 so offering advice about Windows 7 that you do not have is pure guesswork on your part.
whilst I only use the free version of MBAMIs further reason to not offer advice on MBAM.

AVG has the same problem.
Hardly if you actually read my post (and you quoted it), my suggestions are based on what I see on these forums, not my personal experience as I neither have MBAM Pro or Vista or Win7.
Not only that but aren’t you one of those reporting no problems with MBAM Pro and avast in the forums and you’re using win7.
I have no problems on Windows 7 nor XP Pro but I do have the MBAM Exclusions added in XP Pro.
