Avast uses a lot of CPU

First of, i don’t even know im in the right section.

Okay, so randomly about 1-2 times per day (sometimes when i start up my computer) Avast! uses a lot of CPU usage. It can go up to 60-70% and makes my PC unusable for 5 minutes. It’s really annoying, cause i haven’t had it before. Here is a picture: https://gyazo.com/b2c6a4e54c53c09270a51ff07268f209

I have a theory that it maybe updates something, cause my brothers internet starts to lag sometimes.

Sorry if it was hard to understand, im not the best writing texts :stuck_out_tongue:

According to AV Comparatives latest performance tests, avast is the lightest AV on the planet:

The issue must be in your computer. Please format your computer and ensure to disable Windows Defender completely before installing avast. I use this to uninstall Windows Defender completely along with all its registry remnants. Mind you, this only works on Windows 7 and not 8 or 10 because Windows Defender is heavily integrated into the OS in Windows 8 and 10

In Windows 7 you simply need to turn of the service. It doesn’t have to be removed.
In Windows 8 and up, Avast will turn off Defender when you install Avast.

Thanks for the answers! I will format my PC in the upcoming weeks. Not feeling like it right now.
