Avast v. 9.0.2600.160

Hi, everyone. I use the program SUMo (Software Updates Monitor) and it’s telling me that I have Avast 9.0.2600.159 installed and that a newer version 9.0.2600.160 is available.
Does anyone know what this is all about? I can’t seem to find that build 160 anywhere…Not even in the beta section.

if you look in taskmiger is it running as
AvastUI.exe

or

avastui.exe

Lowercase??? or does it have upper

what???
What’s that got to do with anything??? The process is called AvastUI.exe.
I’m talking about an alleged version 9.0.2600.160 vs the current ver 9.0.2600.159!!!

I think I solved the mystery. It seems that there was a silent update to ver. 9.0.2600.160. I found a temp file called avastui.exe. with a fileversion of 9.0.2600.160, that will most likely be applied after a reboot…

In all honesty that is an insignificant part of the build number, 9.0.2006.(not 2600) people generally don’t refer to (or even see) that element. Program updates taht are downloaded are only really found in the first three parts of the version/build number 9.0.2066.

EDIT: if you check the file properties of the avast executables you will probably find that they too will be 9.0.2006.159 as most of mine are. But avastui.exe is 9.0.2006.160 though the main avast service avastSvc.exe is still .159.

In deed, after a reboot, avastui was updated to build 160.
Problem is that the tray icon didn’t appear!!!
God damn this avast 9 is really starting to piss me off!!! It has just to many issues!!!
Manually opening avast UI didn’t work either.
This version should be pulled until they get it right…

And, strangely enough, avast never got updated to build 160 on my laptop…Running same version, same OS.
What the hell is going on??? Even tried the offline updater for version 9.

And you’ve rebooted your system ???
It would also be nice to tone down your language. Thanks

after two additional reboots, i still can’t get the tray icon or the ui to appear.
This version is really is big piece of crap…
PD: if you don’t like my tone, don’t read me. thanks.

Changing your attitude would be a much better solution and would also stop
people from reporting you. (I’m not the one doing the reporting.)

When posting in a public forum, I suggest that you do watch your tone as you don’t know who will be browsing the forums.

Trying to hide behind a ‘if you don’t like it don’t read it’ doesn’t condone it.

If you have a legit grievance by all means express it, but please keep it civil and suitable for minors and others browsing the forums.

OK. I’ll keep it down. I just don’t like people I don’t know telling me what to do.

Well, after the tray icon and UI never appeared again (ever!) I had to run avastclear in safe mode and re-install the whole thing. This time, it seems to work, even after a reboot. And I also got build 160 too.

It still seems like too much of hassle to me…Several reboots, installations/uninstallations, etc…

You must remember this is a major version update. There is a multitude of differing computer systems and configurations in the world and the avast company simply cannot assure that their av will run smoothly on all machines.its an impossible task and all new software has issues.Im sure they will be fixed in time.
