Avast V4.8 serious problem!!

i had avast v4.7 and it worked fine until it did a software update (to 4.8).
After that i did restart and than when windows loaded I couldn’t do nothing with the computer.
Everything i clicked on stack the computer.
I fixed it by doing system restore.

can someone tell me what is the problem? and how can i fix it?

  • Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
  • Which actions have you taken to try solving the problem?
  • Do you use a firewall? Which one?
  • Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system? Did you have in the past?
  • Any other security programs that could interfere?
  • In XP/Vista, is there any useful information into Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Events, specially ‘Errors’?
