Avast V8 broke! SSL problems with email

Getting SSL error from Eudora AND from Avast. See attachments. How do I revert to the previous version or turn off this new “feature”?

No need to revert to avast 7 to resolve this, just set your Eudora email account setting as they were before making changes in avast 7.

  • Avast8 can now handle the SSL emails without having to modify your email settings in your email program.

If you previously had avast 7 you will have needed to change your email program, account settings to allow avast to scan SSL email, these changes need to be reversed, e.g set back to the SSL ports and Authentication.

Delete the entries for your email accounts in the avast Mail Shield > Settings > SSL Scanning.

Whilst this support page is for Configuring Thunderbird and avast! Mail Shield.

It should point to corresponding areas in Eudora to remove the old certificates.

It is actually Eudora, not Thunderbird. I never made any change to it for Avast.

Yes I’m aware of that but the issue with certificates may be the same, you have to look at the information relating to thunderbird and try to find the corresponding settings for them in Eudora. I have never used Eudora, so I can’t be any practical help with where things are.

The certificate changes would have been made in avast7 to be able to handle SSL email. Now that avast 8 can handle SSL these certificates are not required.

I have removed the certificates in Avast. I’ll see how it goes. Thanks.

You’re welcome.
