avast free 22.11.6041 (build 22.11.7716.758) program update error on Windows 7 SP1 32Bit machine. After the update download and installation process, it requires a reboot. After rebooting a ‘Windows Startup Repair’ dialog box appears and an attempt to repair the windows startup process automatically. After a few minutes, windows repaired using ‘System Restore Point’ and bootup normally but avast was restored to the previous version program.
I am addressing Windows 7 SP1 32bit owners with boot problem after upgrade to Avast version 22.11. Can you please share more detail about your OS, like edition (Home/Professional). Is it updated?. What is your machine specs CPU / RAM size. Can you also please provide your c:\Windows\System32\ntoskrnl.exe and c:\Windows\System32\hal.dll file for analysis? Also in case you were able to restore the previous OS, can you please provide support package https://support.avast.com/en-us/article/submit-support-file/#pc
My WIN7 has completely crashed and cannot enter the system.
Just reinstall.
Now, as long as AVAST is installed on the new system, it will keep repeating “Startup Repair” and cannot enter the system. It is impossible to see where the problem is.
Hello, we have already identified the problem. Our drivers have new authenticode signature (using sha256 hashing), which is not recognized on non-updated Windows 7 32 bit systems. This update is required: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=kb4474419. The problem applies only to Windows 7 32 bit. For Windows 7 64 bit, there is already block implemented in our installer, which prevents delivery of new versions on non-updated Windows 7 64.
Hello, I updated Windows 7 64 Pro recently - in November. After the update, my keyboard stopped working. And on the Avast icon in the tray there was a red cross, a notice - you are not protected. Avast protection screens were enabled, but there was no operating system protection.
Updated in October, everything was updated well. In November, after the update, I deleted the updated Avast - the keyboard worked. Installed a new Avast from the July installation file. I tried to update again, the same thing - you are not protected, the keyboard has stopped working. This time I returned to the system restore point, where the old version of Avast is.
You identified the problem, but how to install the update for 32 bit system on something it didn’t work?
The laptop it is not booting, safe mod cannot be accesed, can’t do anything. Recovery tool didn’t work. Format it is not an option because I’ll lose all data on C! What can I do?
Avast F’d up in testing. But also: the problem is not having an update for Windows 7 from 2019. So 3 years ago. A little blame has to go to both ways here.
This doesn’t do you any good now, but incidents like these are why you make regular backups.
Someday it will come in handy for someone. To start Windpws7 32bit, you need to press F8, then select the option to disable digital signature verification. Windows will boot up.
Thank you Денис18! It worked! But the problem is that all programs (included Windows) are not genuine now. If I open normal the laptop, without pressing F8 and disable digital signature verification, it enter again in Startup Repair.
My question, for the Avast developers, it is how to delete this last update version. Or must remove Avast and then download a fresh copy (but without last update)? But this operation will resolve the boot problem?
I think this is a serious problem and Avast Team must publish a step-by-step method to resolve it.
