Avast Version 6.0.1203 Pro Antivirus Freezing

Hi! My Avast Pro Antivirus is now freezing at 11% of full system scans. The last program I saw this occur on does not show up on any Google Search, only part of it does: C:\screenflash.swf. I can pull up a Google result for screenflash.swf, but not for the full code. I assume the C:\ is for the drive.

Has anyone else had this problem? My computer does not freeze; rather the scan freezes, and it does not go farther than 11%. The time continues to run, and I can use the internet just fine. I would appreciate any help that you can offer. Thanks so much.

P.S. The quick scan finished successfully.

welcome to the forum daphnep.

its sounds like the file its freezing on as you say could be a large file so it takes some time to scan it.

but to be able to help you better we need a little more information.

what os you using?
and what version of avast you using?

did the quick scan come up with something?

i suggest you let it run for and see if it takes more time to scan the file or its just stop scanning at that file. if so it could be a bug, but i think it sounds like it’s taking more time to scan the file.

hope this will help you

good luck and let us know on the progress or if you need more support.

Thanks so much for replying to me! I’ve been so busy with school that I haven’t had time to check this.

My version is 6.0.1203, and I’m using Windows Vista, Home version, I think it’s the 32 bit. The file that stops it every time is the screenflash.swf. If I let it run, then it does not get past this file. I let it go for five hours a few days ago, and it never went past.

On the sensitivity page, I have the PUP and links options turned off. I do have Test Whole Files clicked. Mikael, would this be the problem? How do you suggest I configure this page? Should I enable PUP and disable testing the whole file?

Thanks so much!
