Avast Version 6.0.1367 Free

Hello! I want to use Avast Version 6.0.1367 free but I can’t! When I do find it online and download it the install goes into mode which I can’t stop and the file turns into Avast 7! This is very stupid! I’m very disappointed by Avast! Why I want to use Avast Version 6.0.1367? Because I use Comodo firewall another area where Avast let many ppl down. Stop pointing fingers at Comodo it’s Avast fault and they don’t want to take responsibility for it. Also as you know Avast 7 had a wide range of issues. Anyway how can I use Avast Version 6.0.1367? Impossible? Why I don’t have a choice? Not a very happy customer here…

It’s not a good idea to downgrade… Anyway, I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Use Avast Uninstall for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Stay off-line (not connected to Internet)
  6. Install again the old version: http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/ or http://www.oldapps.com/avast_antivirus.php?old_avast=6918
  7. Boot.
  8. Register avast (insert the registration key).
  9. Uncheck the programs updates (set to manual).
  10. Only then connect to Internet (go on-line).
  11. Check and post the results.

No Tech.

He does not want Avast! 7 because its web shield does not allow Comodo firewall outbound traffic blocking if ran under Windows 7.

What about installing Avast! 6 off line. What I mean is to disconect from the web while it is installed then set Avast! 6 for manual update and cancel pop ups alerts.

Should work.

And where did I say he should download and use avast 7?

It is true. My bad. Did not read your whole answer.Sorry.

Thank you very much guys. Well I tried to stay offline and got the files again. NO AVAST files on my PC at all during install. And still it show the same mode that intsall failed and I need to download new files to get Avast 7! I mean what the hell? How is this possible? Maybe this mode to upgrade is already in all old files? :o

Did you follow all steps, including number 3?

Sorry, but that’s not possible.

I don’t even have Avast AV! I use Comodo AV! It fails at step 6!

Well, you’ve to drop Comodo AV, before you can use avast!..

I got the files online after which I pulled the cable off and had no internet access. My bad incorrect sentence. Comodo AV is disabled during install. I switch it off. It has nothing to do with the Avast files and does not block it in any way.

Sorry, but you’ve to drop Comodo AV, before we continue.

I will drop it once I install Avast. There is no point if I can’t install Avast and have no AV at all. I already tried droping Comodo AV before no good installing it again after Avast fails each time.

Won’t work.

As Asyn has stated you “need” to completely uninstall Comodo anti-virus “before” installing avast.
Having two resident av’s is not wise. see http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic260844.html/page__p__1441638#entry1441638

What you on about guys? I know thing or two about AV’s! That’s not the topic! The topic old Avast still fails and want to turn into Avast 7!

Hi Seany0007,

Your failure at step 6 is due to Comodo a/v being installed whilst you attempt to install Avast!

No way around it. Can’t do. It doesn’t matter if real-time protection is turned off in Comodo.

Your system is telling you can’t. Nothing I or you or anyone else can do about that.

Either keep Comodo or Avast. Install a/v offline will ensure your system is protected from the get-go when you first go online.

If you want to keep avast version 6, you can, but you first must disable automatic updates to do so.

That’s not true as I already got rid of Comodo AV and Avast still fails. So no it’s not the case.

Because I use Comodo firewall another area where Avast let many ppl down. Stop pointing fingers at Comodo it's Avast fault and they don't want to take responsibility for it.
Sorry, it wasn't clear you've uninstalled COMODO antivirus before trying to install avast!

Need to point out every member helping you is a member just like you. Except for Tech, iroc9555(?), there have been no representatives here from the actual avast team that have spoken to you.

Since COMODO antivirus comes with the COMODO Internet Security suite, it may be necessary to completely uninstall CIS to get avast to install once again. This is one step I’ve not seen you take. Yes, I am aware COMODO a/v is an optional install as I chose to keep only the firewall and not put the a/v in. If you look at my sig below, you will see I do not now have COMODO CIS.

Not clear yet whether you are using a free version of CIS ATM.

Using the uninstall tool would be best even if you have already uninstalled COMODO a/v. I would put it back in to get the download listed below, though. Or use another computer to get the files I needed.

Obviously, you’ve got to be offline when you uninstall/install.
