Avast! Virus Recovery Database "i" Icon

I have installed the free Avast! Home edition, run scans, but I haven’t yet seen the “i” icon in the traybar, although the “a” icon is there, functioning as it should. The Avast! simple user interface shows VRDB as “Not yet done”. Any suggestions/advice, please?

what do you see if you rightclick the avast-symbol?
is there an VRDB-entry?

what is your OS?
any other security application installed? (firewall, antivirus,…)

  • Missing VRDB ‘i’ icon, using notepad, edit the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\avast4.ini file, [VRDB] section, adding the following line, ShowTaskbarIcon=1 save the changes, the avast self-defence module will ask for confirmation, answer Yes and exit.
