Hello!
When running any type of Virus scan Avast freezez up, the computer start lagging and soon the whole windows stop responding.
This all happens when the scan reaches 21%
I may add when the OS freeze up i have to restart with power button and the BOOT order is gone, making me have to unplug all but the OS SSD.
I’ve tried unistall and make a clean reinstall of Avast, this did not help.
I’m using the Avast Pro v.11.2.2261 with virus definition 160421-3, and my OS is windows 10 Home.
Happy for suggestions to fix this issue!
Kind regards,
Jonathan

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)…!!
Then:
Download Avast Pro Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_pro_antivirus_setup.exe
Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
Reboot.

I investigated where it’s located.
Seems to be a shadercache for DX11 for the game Tom clancy’s the division.
I’ts located in
My computer > documents > My games > Tom Clancy’s the division > shadercache > DX11
OK could you set an exclusion for that folder as it appears to be getting hung on the size of the file

I excluded the whole shader cache folder, still did not fix the issue
Now it freezes up still at 21% but on a steam (gaming service) directory .dll file.
Thanks Bob, still reading up on steam
