Excuse me if I am posting in the wrong place I am unfamiliar with the site, if anyone out there could help I would be very grateful. My query is simply do avast & windows vista have any well know issues particularly when vaio laptop’s are involved. I believe there are or where some difficulties regarding the uninstallation of an earlier avast edition, like I said I will be so grateful for any advice. carl
Need a bit more information. What OS do you have what security device are you now using ?
I had a Vista and used avast with no ill effects.
As “marc-d-l” alluded to it depends upon what other
security software you are using. 
My main issue was that it was a Vista. :
