Hi, my problem is that since I installed avast’s pay version, I cant use and change anything at my managed wordpress site at godaddy, I get time outs. Turning off firewall does not solve the problem, the only solution is to uninstall avast which obviously would make my purchase unnecessary ex-post.
Anyone encountered the same problem or has a suggestion? Would be appreciated.
Without knowing the site/avast version there is not much that can be done/said about it.
Mention the site (make sure it is not clickable) as well as the exact avast version and if you have checked with multiple browsers.
Hi, thanks for the reply, the avast version is 12.2.2276, internet security.
I am using chrome, but now I am checking with IE, same thing, except that now with bot browsers godaddy says that I dont have a hosting plan anymore which is quite funny, and quite a development.
How do you think someone from avast can check if the problem is with avast or not if they don't know the site ?
If you do not have dedicated hosting at Godaddy, I would either get it or step away from them.
There are a lot of problems on their IP’s/sites hosted by them.
Thanks for the links, what do these mean…? As I am just writing this, I finished uninstalling avast as it caused major slowdown in my net connections (sites didnt load etc ar took ages), whereas on my other devices, laptops etc net was working properly. I could not even post here. Now that its uninstalled, I can post here, otherwise I would have got a time out.
Its a shame that after finally I chosen to pay for avast to use a proper version, these things started to happen… Where and how is it possible to reclaim the paid amount for this product?
Btw, I could manage the site from logging onto wordpress as godaddy also had problems with operation today. I wonder when is that they dont?
If you don’t understand the results the links are showing, you should hire someone with relevant knowledge about websites and security to run the website.
About the slowdowns, I believe it was able to solve them with avast installed.
As you say there is no problem on your other devices meaning it was something on that specific device that caused it.
What is likely not possible to find out now you uninstalled avast.
It can be a conflict with other software.
As I said before about GoDaddy.
Get either dedicated hosting or step away from them.
Their free/shared hosting really sucks.
They often have problems, don’t care about security etc.
If a site is malicious and the IP get blocked, your site will also be blocked even if it doesn’t is malicious.
A lot of bad people in the neighborhood will make the entire neighborhood look bad including you even when you aren’t.
That is what happens with shared hosting, especially with bad hosting like GoDaddy.
If a site gets infected no mather how/why, they say “fix it yourself, we are not gonna do anything about it”.
