Ok, I have another stupid problem. Every time I connect to the Internet Avast wants me to reboot. Even when it hasn’t updated any thing. What is going on and how do I fix it. I’ve tried letting it reboot several times but it still wants me to reboot right after I connect. All providers are running and I haven’t found any viruses. This started with the last program update. I’m running Win98 on a Pentium 2. I haven’t seen any other treads on this so assume its just me. I click on NO and every thing is still running. Please help! ???
When avast! asks you to reboot, check the file wininit.ini in the windows folder. What is inside?
Hi igor,
Here is the entire contents of my wininit.ini file.
[rename]
nul=C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\AVAST4\SETUP\REBOOT.TXT
c:\progra~1\alwils~1\avast4\english\help\checklistsimple.chm=c:\progra~1\alwils~1\avast4\english\help\chee200.tmp
I see it’s set up to reboot. Why didn’t Avast take care of this though? Any how what do I do with it now?
Thanks
My wininit.ini file is just the [Rename] line…
I suppose you must delete the other two lines…
Even if I schedule a scanning the wininit.ini file stays that way :
