Avast wants to restart my computer when i check for program updates...

When i ask avast to update the program (and when it does it automatically) it asks me to restart my computer… Even when it tels me that it’s already updated… And I can’t delete the Reboot.txt (it’s empty when opening with notepad)… What should I do???

I attached a txt document with the last lines in the setup.log

Please help… It’s pretty annoying getting the restart message all the time…

Thank you for the help…

The latest part of your log shows that nothing is being updated…
Maybe, for some reason, the reboot.txt file remain there incorrectly.

Can you try to temporarily disable the avast self defense module?

  1. Right click the ‘a’ blue icon on system tray.
  2. Programs settings > Troubleshooting (tab)
  3. Disable self defense module

and then delete that file and test?

I can’t find where to disable self deffense… Maybe it’s because I’m using Avast with danish language but there aren’t any thing simelar to self deffense translated to danish… All I can find ind the troubleshooting tab is “Check for fullscreen applications before showing popups” and “Delay loading of avast services after other system services”…

You seem not to be using avast 4.8 but 4.7 ???

I am using 4.8… Atleast that’s what it says when i start the program…

Try to boot Windows into safe mode and run avast uninstall utility downloaded here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-uninstall-utility.html

After restart, delete the remaining avast4 folder and install avast again.

Follow Forejt’s suggestions. If something goes wrong, I suggest an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Install again the latest avast! version.
  6. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

That fixed the problem… Thanks you guys… But just for the record  I had to reboot one more time than yoor kist sayd after the installation was complete… But that’s not important… Thanks again…

Glad you’re finally win
