I tried to go to a website I’ve gone to awhile back & got an immediate avast! warning of a Trojan Horse found. Recommended to move to chest. When I click ‘move to chest’ I get this:
Avast! process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process
cannot process "C:\Documents and Settings\XXXX\localsettings\Temporary Internet files\Content.IE5\5AOWECGF\alexloughlinfanclub_com[1].htm
It never would allow me to ‘move it to the chest’ so I deleted it. I hope that wasn’t wrong! I use AOL & my AOL froze til I did something with the alert. That was normal, right?
avast normally says why it can’t be moved to the chest (file in use, unsupported action, etc. what) ?
Deletion isn’t a habit you want to get into but in this case since it is in a temporary location, no harm done.
The normal occurrence when the web shield makes a detection it stops the download taking place and you would normally have a blank page.
So two points:
If using the AOHell browser the above actions may not take place as it is a proprietary browser and the web shield doesn’t monitor its traffic. It would have given Abort Connection as the only action, so what browser are you using ?
That is why the second level of defence the Standard Shield, but at that point it is in your browser cache. avast requires you deal with the alert, but normally I have been able to do other things (outside of my browser firefox) whilst I have an alert screen up.
So I don’t know if when you talk of AOHell you mean your browser, if so then that I would say that is strange as I don’t believe the Standard Shield alert should stop you browsing.
