I am trying to modify the .wav files in the English folder but they keep reverting back. I want the volume lower. How do I prevent this from happening? Thanks.
Your modified .wav files are most likely being overwritten with the original versions when the program gets updated.
Try copying the .wav files from the …\ENGLISH folder to another folder such as …\WINDOWS\MEDIA and then make the modifications there.
After doing that, you will need to go to the Sounds applet in the Control Panel and find the entry for “avast! antivirus” and re-select the sound you want for each event.
Be sure to select the sound from the folder where you COPIED it to – not from the “ENGLISH” folder.
