I use a PC running Windows 7 and the free version of Avast. For several days now I keep getting the message “Avast WebRep has crashed, please press the balloon to fix this problem” (or something like that). Each time I go to the Avast web main page and update the program as well as re-scan my system but the problem keeps recurring. What is wrong with the program? Can anyone explain this new deviation? Is the program no longer effective on my computer?
Extra Notes - I have taken the precaution to run anti-spyware programs several times this week as well in an effort to keep my system clean.
HELP!
Have you tried performing a repair ? go to programs and features and click on avast then click uninstall, once you receive the popup screen click on repair and when completed reboot.
I too have this problem on Windows 7 x64, latest Chrome. Repaired Avast, and problem seems to have gone away. But I did get the attached error message afterwards.
