Avast Web Shield blocking browsers!

So I have Avast! Internet Security on my 64 bit Windows 8 Pro computer, and early this morning around 3am I notice that I can’t access any websites in Google Chrome or Internet Explorer 10 as long as the Web Shield is enabled.

I also noticed that https websites work fine, but http websites get the 138 Error (ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED) in Google Chrome, which is strange because I haven’t changed any settings and haven‘t installed any new programs.

I have even tried uninstalling Avast and reinstalling it but the issue persists anyway.

I have 4 computers running Avast Internet Security, but my Windows 8 machine was the only one affected by the issue (The other 3 run Windows 7 with SP1).

I would appreciate any suggestions to resolve the issue. :slight_smile:

does chrome have access to the net through avast firewall?

Yes it did have access through the firewall, and it did not matter if the firewall itself was disabled completely.
The only thing that would help was to disable the Web Shield.

I have thankfully resolved the issue by performing a system restore to the day before the issue occurred, and I can now access all websites with all the Avast shields turned on. ;D
