So my web browsers were working perfectly fine before installing the new Avast (free) update. After restarting and going onto both FireFox and Chrome (tested with both), I suddenly couldn’t go to several sites with it saying the server connection has been reset and to try again later (with several possible reasons why such as the server may be down). When I loaded YouTube the thumbnails were blocked, Facebook had pics blocked, and google was completely unreachable as in the browser wasn’t even going to a server connection was reset page. After a bit of troubleshooting I turned of the web shield and everything worked fine again. I went into my customization options and nothing is out of the ordinary. This means this is a bug/coding error in the web shield. I tested this out a bit more with both browsers and turning the shield on and off and the shield is definitely the issue. Please fix this Avast…

Milos
this is exactly the same issue I faced today after download the update…and I am paying for the privilege with AVAST Internet security. How do I uninstall this miserable update.
Oh, and by the way, AVAST created this nightmare but won’t talk with you without a credit card.
when I finally get this crappy software off my computer, I want a REFUND… bet there isn’t a phone number to call for that either!
When is the fix coming?
Oh, and by the way, AVAST created this nightmare but won't talk with you without a credit card.BS. Everyone can get support for the avast products without the need to have a credit card.
I want a REFUND.... bet there isn't a phone number to call for that either! You are only entitled for a refund if you ask for it within 30 days after buying the av.
When is the fix coming? The fix was already out about 2(!) hours before you posted. Next time, please (re)search and read before posting.
Simple fix: In settings for the web shield just disable http scanning. Worked fine for me. Also no need to get upset with Avast, things happen, software glitches and issues happen. This is just sometimes what happens.
There is no need to disable HTTP(s) scanning.
The issue has been fixed for the past 5-6 hours - if you’re still affected, just update your VPS via Settings > Update.
