Can you tell why Avast Web Shiled is not runnig when I browse with K-Meleon?

PS:I have the latest version of K-Meleon 1.5.4

Thank you for your help.

Probably because k-meleon isn’t supported as it isn’t a common browser.

Did it ever work with the web shield before ?

probably not since it had to be added to the ini file:

I am not sure if the ini hack would work in avast 6 now, I haven’t tested it.

You could try if you wanted. The optin parameter would have to be added to the Webshield.ini

Scott

The optin should work just the same in avast6, which was one reason why I asked if it had been working before as that would imply the use of the optin.

The file that needs to be modified (using notepad) in XP C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\WebShield.ini in Vista, win7 C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\WebShield.ini and add the new line OptinProcess=k-meleon.exe after the [WebScanner] section heading

[WebScanner] OptinProcess=k-meleon.exe

When saving the avast self-defence will ask it you want to save the changes, etc. answer yes.

Thank you for your help I was copied [WebScanner] OptinProcess=k-meleon.exe to WebShield.ini and now Avast Web Shield scans any website in K-Meleon…also Avast Web Shiled works when I surfing with proxy mode in K-Meleon. So I,m aksing do I need proxy connection if Avast Web Shield works with direct connection and proxy connection (K-Meleon)

Thank you.

You’re welcome.

The purpose/use of manual setting of the avast proxy in k-meleon settings is for those that don’t particularly want to edit the .ini files. If you have edited the .ini file there is no need to also have the manual proxy setup in k-meleon.

I think the proxy connection you are talking about is the avastUI, Settings, Updates section, that is only about the auto update settings and not browsing.

Thank you for your explanation

No problem.
