Hello,
after updating Avast free antivirus to version 10.4.2233 I’ve discovered that web shield is blocking browsing of any internet page with the same message: certificate is invalid. Even if I put web address in exclusion, nothing happens. Attached is an example, but same message appears on Google, Mozilla, and so on.
- Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
- Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
- Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
- Reboot.
I confirm that after I upgrated Avast I can’t use WEB at all; ;-))) Well, when I disable avast WEB is working. If not it tries to download a certain file from any site I try to access.
I’ve got Windows XP SP3 I did what the precious man said, but it did not help.
do you use a firewall (other then windows) with outbound protection? … if so, try delete all avast rules and reboot, then create new rules when firewall ask
is any previous used AV (other then avast) fully removed using that vendors removal tool
If not it tries to download a certain file from any site I try to access.you mean avast is trying to download a file? ... post a screenshot
Yes, please do so, interested to see what gets downloaded.
It is not Avast who tries to download a file, but my browser. I will check my firewall settings as you said and will send screen shots – but it will be on Monday, when I return to my office computer with Windows XP. At home I have Windows 7 and it seems Avasts works.
I created a screen shot and put my remarks directly on the picture using Photoshop.

The file I was asked to download “default” is here (it put in zip)
