Turning on WebRep causes Google Reader to not format its lists correctly in Chrome on Win 7
I’m having the exact same problem - when WebRep is on it messes up Google Reader. (Chrome/Win7)
I disabled WebRep and Google Reader works fine.
My question is: What is WebRep and is it vital for it to be running. My basic research tells me it’s a rather lightweight add-on to avast - am I mistaken, or am I still fully protected by Avast with WebRep turned off? (I’m running the Pro version of Avast).
Thanks for your help.
Yes.
@Asym - thanks, that’s good to know.
You’re welcome…!
I was having the same problem and just found out from the google chrome help forum that it is Webrep causing the issue. I also use IE9 and it doesn’t seem to affect that. Anyone know why this happens and if avast are likely to fix it? Only ask because I would rather use chrome than IE9 and don’t want to keep switching Webrep off.
I have no problem with Webrep with Google Chrome.
Hi Surfer75, I see you’re a noob like me… I have been having problems with my browsers and ended up here while checking add-ons. I just wanted to say that if Avast WebRep is causing you problems you don’t need to keep turning it off, you can just remove/uninstall it.
I am just going to turn mine off for now and see if it makes any difference, I keep getting what appears to be connection problems but my daughter’s connection is fine… :
Same as others, webrep messes google reader
I have no problems using WebRep with Google Chrome
in both Windows 7 Ultimate and Windows 8 Developers Copy.
Which version of Chrome are you using ???
I have no problem with Google Reader on both of my systems.
I also have this problem on Chrome version is 16.0.912.75 m and Windows 7 Pro x64 SP1. WebRep plugin version 6.0.1374.
Here’s how it looks:

I don’t know if language has anything to do with your problem
but as you can see in English, there isn’t any problem.
I have this problem too and it does seem some of you are missing the point or getting a little confused.
Most of you saying that you don’t have a problem with this issue that is because you are using the Expanded View going by some images here as opposed to the view we are all having problems with which is the List View. It is a clear and obvious issue but the problem is that I don’t know if it is Avast WebRep or Google Reader causing the issue, however, there is clearly a conflict between them both.

Same problem here. Removing WebRep fixes the problem.

Sorry, but I don’t see it unless I’m not understanding the problem properly ???

Today my Avast upgraded to 7 and it looks like this problem is fixed now.
My current WebRep version is 6.0.1407 and Chrome is unchanged from my previous message at 17.0.953.56.

Same problem. I’m running Chrome 17.0.963.56 m and Avast 7.0.1407. My reader is configured in spanish, changing to english solves the problem??. I already unactivate WebRep however I don’t feel safe doing that :S. It is supposed to tell me if I’m going to a dangerous site, doesn’t it?
Hola Javier,

No, I tried setting my reader in English and Spanish it now works right in both settings.
What’s your WebRep version (spanner > Tools > Extensions)? My Chrome and Avast versions are the same as yours. My WebRep version is 6.0.1407.
It’s my understanding that preventing you from entering dangerous sites is in the virus scanner, not on WebRep. WebRep only tells you the opinion of other people about a site, so disabling it won’t put you in danger.

OK, as a follow up, is anyone at Avast working to solve this issue with Google Reader in Chrome and webrep or no?
