I’ve been using the Avast Home product on different laptops for the past year and I strongly recommend it to all my friends and associates and I love the product, however lately I’ve had some issues and I tried searching for answers but couldn’t find anything so I figured someone might be able to help?
I use a SprintPCS 3G Data Card as my primary connection to the internet and the speed is relatively fast for browsing and watching video clips and downloading media. I’m very big on prevention of malware/trojans/viruses etc so I have Avast running in the background at all times, and I have Comodo Firewall with Defense + running as well (Not the anti-virus component), and Avast has saved me numerous times from sites infected with trojans so I am very grateful.
Lately though my internet connection would grind to a halt when trying to simply surf regular websites but if I’m downloading files/etc… it’s still fast.
I couldn’t figure out why it was so slow surfing websites (browser would display website found, waiting for reply… and it would start loading the website but it’s as if I had a 56K modem or something…
I uninstalled Google Chrome, Re-installed, I tried using internet explorer.
I would disconnect my data card, restart computer and browser, still same problem.
Using Comodo Firewall/Defense + I pulled a list of all processes running and I started eliminating it one by one to see what the problem was, so to my suprise the minute I paused the Avast WebShield component my browsing was like super speed…I had no problems anymore…
I resumed the webshield…browing slowed down to a crawl…paused it, browsing was super fast, so through the process of elimination I found the webshield to be the problem.
I don’t want to permanently turn off the web shield because its a great component however if it continues like this I might have to switch products and suggest that to my colleagues as well, unless someone has a solution or an answer to this?

Note: I have tried solutions others have suggested such as putting the Avast Webshield/Process to be listed as a trusted software vendor with my firewall program with full access to internet.
I’m stuck, any suggestions?
