AVAST will not open

I apologize for this probably being a problem already answered but i could not locate the solution. With XP I could operate Avast through the back door, sort od speak, but I could not access up front. I uninstalled Avast with AvastClear and reinstalled. When clicking on the icon all I get is a blank grey box, what do I need to do now?
Thanks,
Bill

Does your XP installation include SP3 ?

Does your CPU chip support the SSE2 instruction set ?

Are you connected to the internet when installing avast ?

Yes to all three questions…

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

Thanks for the suggestion but that was already tried without success. :frowning:
