Avast Will Not Run a Virus Scan

Hi All,

Avast updated itself today, requiring a restart of the computer. Now when I click to begin a virus scan a window opens up to show the progress and the ‘progress number’ just stays at 0% indefinitely.

Can anyone help me to get Avast to scan my computer?

Perform a repair.
If that doesn’t solve it, perform a clean installation of the latest version.

A Repair did not fix it. Are there any special instructions as to how to perform a “clean install” or can I just uninstall the program via Control Panel/Programs and Features/Uninstall and download a fresh version and install it normally?

  • Remove through control panel
  • Run avastclear
  • Remove all leftovers manually
  • Install the latest version of avast with the offline installer
