Had free avast for several years now updating right along and just now when I clicked to do a scan for virus’s, it will not move!
It scans for individual folders I select, but will not do a quick scan or thorough scan. I deleted it and downloaded new and still the same problem.
I had a pop up the other day when I was scanning with Malwarebytes which halted the scan and was wondering if that is what caused this incident?
The message said avastUI.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Evidently it may have tried to update while Malwarebytes was scanning?
The problem is: it will not show the % (orange moving color) or the processed files. (No movement like froze)
Just the run time moves and it says scan running but it isn’t?
Any ideas? I am on dialup so it is no picnic when I have to download the program to start over. (like hours)
have you tried avast repair and reboot ?
For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
