The past few times Avast has tried to update its definitions, I get an error that it was unable to do so. I tried installing the newest version and I got an error message that it could not do it at this time. Please advise.

Have you tried a manual update? If you look at your firewall, is anything in it blocking Avast? What is your firewall? Did you have another antivirus on your machine prior to Avast? If so, how did you remove it?

Thank you for your information. I liked Avast AV and I suggested it to my friends, but now I have to go to use another AV product, such as Russian Kasper sky!
