Hi. anyone else who has tested this combo? I keep on getting bluescreens… It doesn’t come instantly, but rather some hours down the path while uploading thru uTorrent. And offcourse only when I’m away from computer. Usually I come back to a new booted computer, and a message that it crashed, when I push the button I end up on a microsoft site telling me that the computer went down hard. It doeesnt know what happened, but that the antivirus program was the culprit.
I’ve tried to run the uTorrent program with avast antivirus disabled, and that seems to have stopped the crashes.
Btw, I have Service pack 2 installed and all latest patches.
Please, go to folder \windows\minidump and send the newest (recent) .mdmp files for analysis. There is also C:\Windows\Memory.dmp file. Better if you can compress (zip) them and add some information about the BSOD and the link for this thread.
Send an email to: vlk (at) avast.com
Or upload it to this anonymous ftp server: ftp://ftp.asw.cz/incoming (warning here you’re doing so).
The folder is empty, either it went down so hard, none were written, or the running of CCleaner 2 days ago removed it.
Come to think of it, the latest bluescreens, went down so fast that Windows Normal operation → bluescreen → starting reboot was over in 2 seconds… The memory dump to HD was skipped all together.
The minidump is rather small, something like 100KB - so there wouldn’t be any noticable delay.
What have you set in My Computer / Properties / Advanced / Startup and Recovery - Settings / Write Debugging Information ?
P2P programs form a direct conduit onto your computer, their security measures are easily circumvented, and Malware writers are increasingly exploiting them to spread their wares onto your computer. Further to that, if your P2P program is not configured correctly you may be sharing more files than you realise. There have been cases where people’s Passwords, Address Books and other personal, private, and financial details have been exposed to the file sharing network by a badly configured program.
When you use them you are downloading software from an unknown source directly onto your computer, bypassing your Firewall and Anti-Virus software. Many of these Downloads are targeted to carry infections.
