Avast! won't allow me into my YouTube account!

Whenever I try to log into my YouTube account, I get the following message from Avast!

“Network Shield: blocked access to malicious site www.youtube.com/account”!

What’s going on? Has Avast! gone nuts?

I’d appreciate any help you can give me.

Thank you.

Its happening on all php sites; avast needs to fix this asap

Ya. The same thing happened to me this morning. I wonder what’s up :-X

ALL PHP sites? Not cool; not cool at all!

Maybe for you. Not for me. I have not been blocked at all on any php sites.

Yeah, it’s not Webshield, but NetShield.
Hope they correct the false positive soon.

All php sites, if you are using web shield (default settings). And ONLY the “My account” pages. For example, you can log in to youtube, but if you click Account, you will get malicious site warning. I have tested on several php sites and all pages are ok, with the exception of the “my account” page.

In another Forum, the administrator kubecj gave the following reply to a report of this same problem, which only affects “my account” website pages:

“This was a problem with our blocker generator tool. I fixed it manually, will be in the next vps update.
This was not blocking youtube, this was blocking ANYTHING/account, due to a bug in a generator.”

An update is now available.

What do you mean “available”? Available where? Avast updates are automatic. When is this going to be resolved, or are we supposed to go somewhere to get this update? I cannot access my account page. Please resolve this immediately. I love your software, but this is frustrating, and I don’t want to have to pause the shield.

Take it easy and learn about the software you are using.
With avast you can do a manual update also at any time of the day.
A little patience would not hurt, there are many much more important things in life than a computer.

Take it easy and don’t assume I do not know anything about the software I’m using. And don’t jump to conclusions and preach to people you don’t even know about what is important in life, because you are barking up the wrong tree. It is reasonable to think that if it is not updating automatically, then it is either not in effect yet, or we need to go someplace to get it. Since I have never had this type of problem with this software before, I would not know how they might fix it. If we need to go someplace to get it, then it was a perfectly reasonable question.

Ever had a look at the menu you get to see when you right click the blue (avast) ball near the clock?
Obviously you haven’t. Or you would have seen that there is a update option.

I suggest you change your attitude if you want help.

And about much more important things, think about:

  • Clean air to breath
  • Clean water to drink
  • Enough food for everyone
  • A decent place to live for everyone
    etc etc

???

Thanks Eddy, sorry you got the brunt of that…

Don’t worry Jahn. My avatar is a strong indication about my past. I can handle people like that

Thanks; tested on our sites and youtube and all is well. Good job and yes, things like this will happen and we roll with it. I am impressed with the speed at which is was fixed and am sure many others feel the same way.

Get used to the speed, you are using avast, not something like Norton LOL

Oh believe me, we agree! Our tech newsletters are sent to about 1/4 million opt in subscribers and for the past several years we have been recommending AVAST and blasting companies that have the all-in-one suites which consume tons of resources and tend to not be great in any one area… just mediocre and more nuisance then they are worth! We have been around since 1998 and our visitors and subcribers trust us and as such, many use Avast.

Thanks Avast! Now, don’t you go being a bundled suite… do what you do best!!

You don’t have to go anywhere, just manual update avast.
