Avast won't allow sending emails using Gmail on Chrome

Hi everyone - I am using Avast free on W7 and Chrome as my main browser. Since two days ago (there might have been an update to Avast around that date if I remember correctly) I am unable to send emails from my Gmail account unless I disable Avast shields. This doesn’t happen when using Firefox. Also, emails arrive normally, it’s just sending them that is a problem - on the Gmail window it says “sending” for several minutes and then tells me it was unable to send.

Any ideas about how I can fix this? Many thanks in advance.

Try this

controlpanel > ad/remove progams (program and features) > avast > uninstall/change > next popup box has a repair option … follow instructions and reboot

any change?
