Avast won't make exclusion for a file

I have a file called A-Trainer used for modifying a game rom (pokemon) and whenever I move it or run it Avast will detect it as a threat

So I searched up how to make an exclusion for a file/folder and so I went to settings> antivirus> and added the folder it’s in as an exclusion (there is no option to add a file)
That didn’t work at all

So i went to Active protection> file system shield>exclusion and added the folder again (and again no option to add a file)
And that didn’t work either

the only thing that works is disabling avast completely

this is extremely frustrating as i know for a fact what i am opening is not a virus

Having added the folder to the exclusion, you should be able to modify the * at the end of the folder path in the exclusion and change the * to the file name e.g. \executable_name.exe.

Knowing it is not a virus, is only part of the solution and virustotal should be used to confirm as these so called trainers act in a way as to have an AV alert.

You should also send a copy of the file to avast virus labs (copy to the virus chest if not sent there already) for analysis and correction if confirmed as an FP.
