AVAST won't recognize updated SSL Certificate

How can I get AVAST to recognize and use my email provider’s updated SSL Certificate? Under the certificate settings for “Issuer Name” it says “Organizational Unit: generated by Avast Antivirus for SSL/TLS scanning.” “Organization: Avast Web/Mail Shield” and “Common Name: Avast Web/Mail Shield Root.

Why is AVAST trying to generate their own SSL Certificate for my email provider?

Avast places itself as a man in the middle, otherwise it can’t scan the encrypted SSL connection.
