Well, I successfully installed Home Edition and got my key. I tried clicking on the shortcut on my desktop…nothing happened. I tried clicking Avast under All Programs and it still won’t go. It seems I can scan individual files for some reason, but I can’t seem to get it to the main menu and organize scans and other things…Can anyone hlep me? :-\

I have Windows XP with Service Pack 2 installed.

Have (or did) you have another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

Is there an avast ’ a ’ icon in the system tray, see image, does it have a red circle with a bar over it, see image 1 ?

What avast processes are running in Task Manager, they begin with ash or asw, see image 2 ?

Actually, I solved it myself. Heh…I had an old virus program and I forgot to uninstall it before installing avast…sorry for the trouble, but thanks a lot.
