For some unknown reason, I found my Avast disabled some time around a week ago (didn’t find this forum until now.) When I try to open the interface, it just says “Loading… This Shouldn’t Take Long” and just stays like that perpetually, never opening. I did some research and multiple sources suggested uninstalling Avast and then reinstalling it, but guess what? When I go into control panel> uninstall a program> right click on Avast> click uninstall, It does absolutely nothing. I don’t get prompted to uninstall it and nothing opens or changes. What is going on? I just want Avast enabled again and back to normal.

Free, Windows 7 32 bit, Nothing else but combofix which was downloaded after this issue occurred, Avast is the only antivirus I’ve used.
- Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
- Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
- Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
- Reboot.
I also have this problem on a Win10 64 bit PC
Avast has 3 incidents of ‘avast installer’ open in the background and does not allow me to uninstall.
I have tried the ‘Avast antivirus clear’ program but it does not run - it only shows the ‘loading’ bar.
Help!
