Avast Won't Update

For some reason Avast won’t update the definitions. Tried updating to 7 (version is now 7.0.1414) but the definitions are stuck on 120302-0. Tried the FixUpdate utility but it reports Avast doesn’t have the problem Fix is designed for - Code 2.

If I try a manual update it hangs at “Initializing, please wait” and goes no further with no progress showing in the bar.

Any ideas anyone

Oh, and I’m running XP SP3 if that helps at all

uninstall with this and reboot http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
install latest version and reboot http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/

Happy to give it a try but I’ve done that once already

you say you have 7.0.1414 latest is 7.0.1426

OK thanks, it’ll be tomorrow now as I’ve got other stuff I need to clear tonight.
