it just started to not work anymore. I click the fix button and nothing happens. I reboot and nothing happens.

What is your current Operating system and avast! version?
Please provide in details, so we much better to know how to solve your issues.
Anyway, you may try to repair avast thru :
Start – Control Panel – Add/Remove Programs or Program and Feature – Then click avast, select unsintall or remove – then you may select Repair – click next and let avast! repair it.
Hopefully this solution may help you better.
