I was trying the google browsers today. (funbrowser) while it was loading, avast sounded the alarm, a viruse has been detected. (trojan) it sounded two times, and then a third. (spyware). I deleded the files, clean temp. and ran a scan. avast said all clear. unistalled the browser. ebait-money-maker folder was in my program folder. (deleted) I got the .exe file from:
.istreamcast.com/google/GoogleBrowser.exe
Witch I also deleted. So all I have to say is “good job avast”
I suggest that you modify the link so it isn’t active (clickable) by putting some spaces or stripping the http and www parts out. Those who want to investigate will still be able to do so, this will stop any chance of accidental downloading of an infected item.
The exe file in this case could be an installation one that when extracting the contents to install the browser has a file inside that is detected.
When avast alarmed, it should have said exactly what the file name, its location and virus name that was detected. There should be a record of these details in the avast! Log Viewer.
If you moved the infected file to the chest (best first action, ‘first do no harm’ then it could be checked by a multi engined on-line AV scanner to confirm it isn’t a false positive detection. You will need to either restore it or move it out
If you are (not) getting a virus warning that (and) you believe (it) may be a new, undetected virus or false positive, then if you can zip and password protect (‘virus’, will do) the suspect file and send it to virus @ avast.com (no spaces).
Give a brief outline of the problem (possibly a link to this thread), the fact that you believe it to be a either a new, undetected virus or false positive and include the password in the body of the email. Some info on the avast version and VPS number (see about avast {right click avast icon}) will also help.
