Is avast enough to secure my computer? Or do i need another security program?
What would help is a little about the system you are trying to secure?
What OS?
What is your browser?
How do you connect to the internet?
Do you currently have any security products?
avast! is only an anti-virus program, which provides a good, configurable, flexible anti-virus solution. and at the very least you need a software firewall. There are a number of other tools that specialise in the detection of Adware and Spyware which would also benefit.
If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it.
- Ad-Aware
- Spybot Search and Destroy
- Spywareblaster Don’t install this until your system is clean.
- Ewido Security Suite If using winXP.

Because it could inadvertently lock in something that it would otherwise block. It is not a proactive (resident) or an on-demand scanner, it blocks certain elements from being installed on your system (adware, spyware, dialers, etc.) if there is already one there it has to be removed with the above tools, otherwise it doesn’t provide any protection for the stuff already there.
