Avast4.6 - Can't delete a worm - help

Avast didn’t find the worm; i found it and couldn’t delete it, so i scanned and avast found it, but couldn’t delete too…

Threat name: Win32:Savno [Wrm]

→ Cant’t move/rename/quarantine/delete

HELP PLEASE

Welcome to the forums, vL.

This worm has been in avast data base since 2003. What Os do you have, any other security programs, etc. This is needed as solving the problem depends on the various OS’s and security programs.

What was the file name, where was it found
example (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx)?
Files in use and those in certain locations (usually system folders) are protected by windows, even viruses, so they can’t be moved or deleted.

If you have winXP, winNT or win2k, then you should schedule a boot-time scan from within avast.
If you have win9x, winME, then boot into safe mode (tap the F8 key as the system starts), start avast and run a scan from safe mode.

Have Win XP Pro 2002 - SP2 / I use avast and microsoft antispyware

I’ve just checked the file and it disappeared, don’t know if avast deleted it while it wasn’t in use (?) don’t know waht happende… :stuck_out_tongue:
strange

it was downloaded from eMule (because it was on the eMule downloads folder, and my brother uses it a lot >:(), it was named as something like “worms crack 3d”

Thanks for helping

Glad to know it is now gone, vL.

Most “crack” programs have some type of malware in them. This is mostly why there are “cracked” programs.
Tell your brother, “Crack kills … in more ways than one.”

Please come back often, learn more, and maybe help others.
