I downloaded avast4home only to find an .exe file which is useless for a mac. Does Avast do Mac compatible software. Also the web page on my machine is virtually unreadable, it is all over the place, words over words etc, I am sure this is not how it is meant to look, I am having terrible trouble reading anything. This forums section is fine. Can anyone help.
Avast! Home is not designed for the Mac operating system.
There are very few (if any) viruses for MacIntosh. Hence no need for a virus scanner. Also, the Mac platform is not very popular for server usage, so no server side virus scanning is necessary.
As for the webpage issue, I see it fine with Windows IE6 and Firefox. I can only assume its an issue with your browser.
Currently there is no Mac version of avast.
This was discussed some time ago and I believe that because of the limited user base of the Mac and the reduced infection risk (something the Mac user will boast about), this was not deemed a viable commercial option.
These are my thoughts/opinions and not those of Alwil who make avast!
As for the the display of the forums we have a large cross browser member base but for the most part these are using either windows or linux not Mac based browsers.
We do have one known Mac user username .: Mac :. who obviously doesn’t suffer the problems you mention, but I’m unaware what browser he is using.
A version of avast designed for Mac might actually come up by the end of this year… no promises though
