I just installed Avast 7 after receiving the announcement popup. Why does this version leave so many ports associated with AvastUI >:( in the "Close_Wait state? First there were 11 after my first user interface session then 21 then 32 now 36. The number goes up each time I open the UI. It seems the only way to drop these ports is to restart my computer. The last version only had active ports when Avast required them for a task. Will this be fixed?
Mine had so many problems after update to 7 finally had to give up on avastUI.exe I even purchased Pro 2 months prior to update. Still no answer for this :
I uninstalled Avast 7 and reinstalled Avast 6 and wouldn’t you know it version six also causes ports to hang in the Close_Wait state although not as many as version 7. A port hung in the Close_Wait state is caused by the calling software. If you want to check this download and install “Active Ports” which lists what ports are open on your PC and where they are going to. Does no one else out there care about what ports they have open to the interweb???
