Avastclear.exe not working

Hello!
Im going to go straight to the point: i’m trying to uninstall avast because its blocking me from launching a game on my computer(forza horizon 5).
The thing is,I believe i got fed up with avast about a year ago (because it was blocking random stuff) and straight up raged and try deleting avast folders.
Im pretty sure this broke my avast, but at the time, i thought it was uninstalled since it didnt show up in the apps and features anymore.

Right now i can see that avast is still here, for example i still have some folders named “avast” or “avast software” that i cannot delete (even in safe mode), and in the task manager,
in the startup “window” ,i can see some program named “avlaunch.exe” that i cannot turn off.
Im pretty sure the cause of my game crashing is this avlaunch.exe runnning everytime i boot my computer.

Now comes the big problem:
I eventually tried using avastclear to get rid of everything that could be left of my avast, but avastclear really just doesnt want to launch:
it’s just loading infinitly and not doing anything.
While running avastclear.exe, i can see in the task manager something called “avast antivirus installer” running, that’s taking a large ammount of CPU usage. I can not kill this task, it just tells me “access denied”.

Do you guys have any idea of why avastclear isnt loading up and is just sitting here doing nothing?
This surely comes from the fact that i deleted random avast folders a year ago :confused:

Have you tried to run it from safe mode?

Yes, i ran avastclear multiple times while beeing in windows’ safe mode… same resulsts as before.

There was a few topics related to forza horizon 5 (you may want to check those), which was cleared up by a Virus Definitions update.

Hello! thank you for sending me this topic, but apparently I cannot update to any other versions… When i try installing avast’s last version with a setup installer (I have to do
it from an installer and not from avast, because i can’t access to avast’s interface since i deleted random folders :confused: ), it does the same thing as with avastclear.exe, just loading up and nothing happens.
Do you have any other ideas on how to update without an installer or avast’s interface?

Sorry, i can’t download it for some reasons, it just tells me “error”
anyways back to the first subject, do you guys know what could be causing avastclear.exe to just load infinitly? thank you ^^

Nope (at least not in safe mode), my best guess would be that your OS installation is somehow corrupted.
