Avastclear fails to run.

The stub cannot run installer/updater executable ‘C:\Users\Maria~1.DAV\AppData\Local\Temp\av_iup.tm~a01256\instup.exe’ (code 0x10b)

Did you get your version of AvastClear.exe from here?
https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

Internet connection is not required to run this program nor should you run this uninstall program in standard or normal mode. Follow instructions provided in the above link.

You must run it in Safe Mode using an administrative account. You should be able to start by double-clicking the executable on your desktop in normal administrative mode and avast will ask to restart into Safe Mode. Click Yes to do so. Logon to your administrative account in Safe Mode. Uninstall. Reboot.

–>What version are you trying to uninstall and what operating system are you using? (See my sig for version information information below)
–>Any other antivirus programs installed (or were installed?)

The following video will show you how to use avastclear.

Thanks, Bob. I’ll bookmark that for future use. ;D

My pleasure.

Avastclear was run by selecting Safemode and running it out of folder Avast.
I no longer know what version of Avast since it does not show in Programs and Features.
OS is Windows 7.
Currently Microsoft Security Essentials is installed.

Can try to more closely match your instructions.

If you don’t see Avast anywhere on your system, likely you’ve fixed your original problem of not being able to uninstall Avast.

Since Microsoft Security Essentials is now installed, you’re now running Windows 7 SP1 Home Pro or Enterprise?

Are all Microsoft security updates current?

Do you still want to run Avast Free, Pro, Internet Security, Premier?

Find I can not get the avastclear to the desktop. I get Error 0x800700718: Not enough quota is available to process this command. Downloaded avastclear to download. Will try to remove Microsoft Security Essentials and try again.

The reason this came up is I was trying to upgrade Window 7 to Window 10. I am told from the Windows 10 forum that Avast is still present.

Microsoft Security Essentials was just reinstalled as a temporary protection.

Windows 7 Pro is installed.

Uninstalling Microsoft Security Essentials did not help. Can not copy avastclear to desktop

Since Avastclear could not be copied to the Desktop, I just ran it out of download folder. Avastclear did ask to reboot into Safe Mode. I selected yes. The computer restarted. I logged on and got a message asking to run Avastclear. I select yes. Avastclear gave default directories. I accepted default and select uninstall. Avastclear uninstalled Avast.

Glad you got it sorted.
–>First, since you are doing a Windows Operating System Upgrade from 7 to 10, I’d backup all personal files I don’t want to lose, such as licenses, bookmarks, pictures, documents, anything precious to me.
–>Worry about installing Avast after successfully installing Windows 10!
–>Be prepared to do a clean install of Windows 10 (Pro) by following instructions here: https://www.askvg.com/download-windows-10-offline-iso-files-and-create-installation-media/
–>A clean install of Windows 10 Pro will result in the loss of all personal files, so back them up first!

[EDIT:]
–>Updating to Windows 10 is not the same as doing a clean install.
I suggest you read the entire thread before proceeding with your upgrade.
